Desert Nanoscape at NEBI Gallery
“Nanoscape” is a term used by Geoff Williams to describe the world of nature that is all around us, but also invisible unless we are using the most advanced microscopes and high tech imaging devices. Desert Nanoscape is his most recent collection of images.
NEBI Gallery, located in downtown Westerly, RI, supports the education and training functions of the New England Biophilia Institute (NEBI), an innovative agricultural biotech company. Exhibitions at the NEBI showcase the best of Art, Science and Nature.

Geoff Williams, Microscopist
Geoff Williams is a microscopist whose work combines the visual arts, science and technology. For almost two decades he has been using electron and light microscopes for not only scientific investigation, but to also share the invisible world with those around him.
As manager of the Leduc Bioimaging Facility at Brown University, Geoff oversees some of the most advanced equipment in the world. However, unlike most scientists who use the equipment to only gather scientifically-relevant images, Geoff spends his time seeking out images with great aesthetics.
Geoff has fun at his exhibitions too so don’t be surprised if you mistake an image of his for something completely different. Did you see a scorpion on this page? Or a plant? How about a tree? You’ll want to come to the exhibition to discover what those images really are.
Geoff is an avid cyclist and cyclocross competitor.
